Antonio Del Rio

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

When i am running on the streets, I feel like I look like this if a camera man would take snaps of me. However, in reality  I look like somebody poured water over my head. Aim to look good this good running! I think that is why I am #teamtights with no shorts over them...

On who you are…

My name is Antonio del Río, second most common name in Spain, so maybe my parents though I would be a common person. I’m 26 years old. Officially Mechanical Engineer. I’ve been working for several engineering companies since I finished a hard and tough degree, which was paid working at nigh for the biggest textil company in the world. However, running is what makes me feel happy and makes me grow as a person.

On running…

I try to run five days a week, well, actually, I always run five days a week. I wake up thinking about my next training session, so I change my elegant shoes for my Adidas sneakers and run across the city to get the mountains, where I can smell the nature and clear my mind from bad thoughts.

On Street culture…

i’m based in Barcelona, so street culture is so important for me. In my opinion, street culture means diversity and colours. Meet different kind of people while I practice my favourite sport is best thing running gave me. Also, it’s pretty exciting to know new cities trough races and competitions.

On Running culture…

Running is not just a sport. Running is a lifestyle which made me to be care of my body and start a healthy habits as well. Thanks to running I got to feel comfortable with myself, not only physically, psychologically too. I discovered new kinds of food and and new feeding habits.

On gadgets…

The most important gadget which I always use for running is a good GPS and HR sensor. Other things disturb my peaceful running journeys. No music, no smartphone.

On injury…

Believe or not, I’ve never been injured. i consider myself a lucky guy. I recon It would be so frustrating, however, I’d try to fight and keep going to go back on the street roads.

On achievements…

My best achievement has been to fell in love with this sport. After that, this state of mind made me finish Barcelona’s marathon last year in a little more than three hours, shoulder to shoulder with my best friend. How powerful is that “drug”!

On future goals…

A future goal is to run Berlin Marathon and NYC Marathon at the same time I discover The Big Apple. Running is always a good reason for travelling around the world.

On your social media…

I consider myself an addict to social media, being present in Facebook, Instagram and Twiter. I really love to share my passion with my friend, acquaintances and other people who are able to appreciate what I feel while I am running. I think it's a good chance to promote your abilities to the world and… get a professional contract as a runner or model maybe.

On Pink…

Being in pink means to be in your best conditions tu enjoy this sport. I mean, a period when you feel you can get any goal or finish any race, don’t mind how tough or long it could be.

On Pain…

I remember the last marathon I ran. It was March and I didn’t expect such as hot weather. I felt a lot of pain after the 30th kilometre I though about give up and go home without to be finisher. In this moment you must be mentally strong and show to the world you are rock and you never give up. I think it teach you much more than pink moments.

When I die…

Nobody know when they will die, so I try to remember Steve Jobs quote which say: “If you live each day as it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right”. So, fight for your dreams and don’t think about death. Have a goal permanently in your mind.
