As I type this, its almost 02:00 AM & I am watching Hugh Masekela performing Stimela, live in concert, somewhere in Europe. I have always wanted to watch this legend perform live however, this will never happen because he passed away in 2018.
June was quite a busy month, it was exams for me, pride month globally. It was also a month which saw tensions rise as the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement was thrust into the spotlight again with the brutal killing of George Floyd. Before him there was Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor, Sandra Bland, Tamir Rice and the list goes on. A pattern of black people losing their lives at the hands of police brutality, which shouldn't exist.
So we posted black squares but what next?
I chose to use my platform to educate about the black experience.
In support of this fight against racism, this months Yoga Playlist only features People Of Colour. This is not your typical yoga playlist, I chose diverse genres and artists from all over the world.
Is the black experience really different throughout the world?
Are there parts of the world where racism doesn't exist?
