Q. Who are you and what you do for a living?
My name is Brandy Talamoni. I am from North Carolina USA. currently i am a stay at home mom.
Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?
For me it is pretty simple. i try to run in the mornings before my kids are up and
my husband has to leave for work. From there get my kids ready for school and I head to the gym for strength training. I also will push my kids for some of my runs and they enjoy it. We make it an adventure to go out and explore the area and find new playgrounds.
Q. When and why did you start running?
I have been running since I was 15 years old! i didn’t run anything over a mile in high school and eventually I was in the military for 4 years and and never ran
anything over 3 miles. After i got out i had my daughter and eventually decided I would run again because I wanted to live a healthier lifestyle. From there i went on to run a few half marathons. I even ran through pregnancy with my son. my love for running never died. Running relaxes my mind and sometimes it means nap time for my kids so i like the peace and quiet.
Q. What motivates you to go out there, when you do not feel like it?
For me the days I want to be lazy and not run are always the days i end up doing my best and having a good run. i never regret a run no matter how slow it was. run for those that can’t. run for the people that wish they had the option to run.
Q. What gives you the confidence to run in the streets?
I love the looks i get from people when i push my double stroller. 90 % of my runs I am pushing a kid. Chicago it snows a lot so i still will lace up and run with them in the stroller. i always feel like i am awesome and strong when i push them
Q. What was your best running experience?
best running experience for me would have to be a 10k i did in okinawa Japan
pushing my daughter. it was hot and humid and i barely made the cut off and the gate to the stadium to finish was closing and i sprinted in and ducked while
pushing her. my second favorite would have to be when i did a ocean to ocean run in Okinawa as well. i have barely trained for a 5k the weeks before and decided to go out and join them. the run totaled to be 12 miles long. it was a gorgeous route but it also is how i knew i wanted to start doing distance
Q. What was your worst running experience?
so in 2017 I had trained for Nagoya womens marathon. sadly i was a DNF. i was
heartbroken and for a long time hearing the word Nagoya struck a nerve for me. a month after i found out I was pregnant with my son. This year i am training for a marathon to redeem myself from that experience.
Q. How do you push through the pain?
Distance running is such a mental game. If you train your mind right then your
body will follow. I recently ran a half and i chaffed really bad. i was in tears at one point but i kept going. i always tell myself “the faster you go, the quicker you can done”
Q. What advice can you give somebody who wants to start running?
i used a app called c25k. it helped me build up. you can do it. you don’t have to be super fast to run. whatever the distance, get out there. The running community is so supportive. every great runner started where you are. even when the days are hard, keep going!
Q. Which Social media sites are you on and how can one follow you?
I have instagram and facebook. both are @brandytherunner
