Q. Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do for a living?
A. I am a 31 year old sports freak. I watch, play and follow soccer, golf,cricket. I am also a Bcom. Financial Management student at UINSA. and work for a company called Tokiso Dispute Settlement.
Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?
A. I always make time for exercise. It is as important as eating. I have to train for at least 1 hour per day.
Q. What does your weekly fitness regime consist of?
A. I hit the gym at least 4 days a week and 3 days of soccer training.
Q. When and why did you start running?
A. I love being active and keeping fit. I started running about a year ago. I enjoy the different running events that Joburg has to offer. It is FUN.
Q. What motivates to go out there, when you do not feel like it?
A. Passion for Fitness and Sports.
Q. What is the longest distance you have ran?
A. 10km, but I am training for the Soweto Marathon - 21km.
Q. What do you love about running?
A. The freedom you get from being on the road. Once you start, there is no turning back. And that feeling at the end of the race. A feeling of accomplishment.
Q. What do you hate about running?
A. Nothing.
Q. What gives you the confidence to run in the streets?
A. The Challenge. I am a competitor by nature.
Q. How do you think running can empower the youth?
A. It is a great way to relief stress and lets you forget about all your problems. Its only you, the road and the finish line.
Q. What would you like to achieve in the future in terms of running?
A. My goal is to run the 2 Oceans Marathon.
Q. How do you envision the future of running?
A. Running should be fun and not a grueling exercise.
Q. What do you think about the lack of exercise among the youth?
A. Youth need to get more active. The kids are all for sports and exercise, but as soon as most of them reach a certain age, they get other things to keep them busy.
Q. What was your best running experience?
A. The Nike We Run 2013.
Q. What was your worst running experience?
A. Nothing yet.
Q. How do you push through the pain?
A. Keep the finish line in your mind. Like I said earlier. I am a competitive person. I need to finish what I started.
Q. What is your favourite shoe to run in?
A. Nike Free 5.0 is by far the best running shoe for me.
Q. What can you not run without?
A. My phone, as it has my running app.
Q. What advice can you give somebody who wants to start running?
A. Just do it and train regularly.
