Q. Who are you and what you do for a living?

I am Panos Kalogeropoulos and I live in beautiful Greece. I work at Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises which is located in Athens as a Head of Internet & Social media. In addition, I am founder of AEK1924.gr, a website for the news of AEK Athens team.

Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?

I work from 8 to 10 hours daily but in my free time I usually exercise at the gym and I run 3 times per week. During the weekends I enjoy mountain hiking, river trekking and sometimes I like participating in extreme sports such as canyoning, skydiving and rafting.

Q. When and why did you start running?

Greece is the country where athletics firstly appeared. Olympic games and marathon race started in my country years ago. So, 2 years ago I took part in the 5km race in Authentic Athens Marathon and after that I was addicted to running.

Q. What motivates you to go out there, when you do not feel like it?

When I am not in a good mood, I find running as a good reason to think of my future plans and organize my thoughts. While running I recharge my batteries and I gain the energy which I need to continue my daily routine.

Q. What is the longest distance you have ran?

During training I have run about 20km, whereas during running at a race the longest distance I have run is 10km.

Q. What gives you the confidence to run in the streets?

Adidas runners in Athens is the community which gave me the chance to start running in the streets. It is consisted of experienced coaches who train all the runners and give us the passion of running at the amazing roads in Athens.

Q. What do you think about the lack of exercise?

Athletics is a healthy form of life and as a result if someone exercises, he/she can take the advantages of it and has a better lifestyle.

Q. What was your best running experience?

The Authentic Athens Marathon where you can pass from famous and central roads in Athens as it is a fascinating route and an unforgettable experience.

Q. What was your worst running experience?

I have never dealt with a bad running experience. Every time I run I find out new goals which make me feel better and motivate me to continue.

Q. How do you push through the pain?

I try to find time to relax my body during the week and when I have the opportunity I travel a lot in order to get rest and gain the lost energy. But, when i am in a new place I usually explore it by running!

Q. What advice can you give somebody who wants to start running?

The only advice I can give to somebody who is planning to start running is not to hesitate to do it and keep in mind that: “Don’t run to add days to your life, run to add life to your days”.
