The future mayor, our #MCM

Q. Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do for a living?
Born in a small village called Sephai in the North West, and raised in Mamelodi , just outside Pretoria, I am admitted Advocate of the High Court, work as a parliamentary legal advisor. I enjoy jazz music, play me Miles or Nina anytime of the day, and will be forever grateful, while at it, put single malt with two rocks, then I am happy. I read and write poetry and books

Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?
I work flexible hours, so I safe an hour or two, three times a week, to run or visit the gym, otherwise work is for the mornings, and blessed to work for an institution that has three recess a year.

Q. When and why did you start running?
I ran my first ten kilometres, 19 years ago in high school, it was called Solomon Mahlangu Marathon, because, Solomon was my childhood hero, I honoured the race, and even helped fundraise for it. It started just outside my house, and by the time it finished I had lost all my taxi fare, had to walk 10k home. Lol . Then last year I was in the shower I saw this growing belly and I was scared I might no longer see ‘junior’ so I decide to start running again. Also the vitality points help, but more so, what Jonas Gwangwa says about ‘flowers of the nation’ on the road with their tights and colourful shirts , made me to run every weekend

Q. What motivates you to go out there, when you do not feel like it?
A lot of this, my Nike+ app, when I see it every day after the race, the fact that I shape well, the camaradie at the races, the finish line, the braai hosted by my club the Phobians, and the fact that I will be at home by 11 after the race, during the week I am motivated by less stress after the race, long salt bath, the thinking on the road, my beautiful neighbourhood, the people walking dogs.

Q. What is the longest distance you have ran?
42 Km

Q. What gives you the confidence to run in the streets?
Because I reclaim, the street and the city, I go by the #FutureMayor of Tshwane, for by the time I run for political office I would have ran every street in my City .

Q. What do you think about the lack of exercise among the youth?
Parenting, parents seem not encouraging children and youth to exercise, they buy the play stations and give them pocket money for malls, and it is generally a societal problem , you must see twitter when there is load shedding, people complaining about the television. Exercise and good health (healthy eating) as also not marketed as sexy.

Q. What was your best running experience?
Running Akasia Marathon in January 2015, to qualify for Two Oceans. The other one is running for the first time with the bus, however every race in Pretoria is my best experience as I plan to run all the streets.

Q. What was your worst running experience?
My first 42.2 kilometres, I got home in six house, with a running tummy, you can imagine holding it for that long.

Q. How do you push through the pain?
Pain is just that pain, but I also heal my legs first before another run.

Q. What advice can you give somebody who wants to start running?
Buy proper running shoes and run

Q. Which Social media sites are you on and how can one follow you?
