Q. Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do for a living?
A. My name is David Joseph, Montréal born & raised and I live for a living. For work I'm an ex restaurant owner turned fitness entrepreneur.

Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?
A. Being active & living a healthy lifestyle are part of my core values so balancing them with my professional life is a priority. It also makes its easier to do so since my professional life is in the fitness industry.

Q. What does your weekly fitness regime consist of?
A. Run 2x as a pacer with Yamajo Run Crew + 4 extra runs + 4 workouts at the gym + 1 Fitness class + 1 basketball game + once a month I do Bikram Yoga.

4. When and why did you start running?
A. I was a sprinter until the 3rd grade. From then I focused on basketball. After university I started competing in Spartan races which demanded me to become a better stronger runner which lead me to participate in 5k's, 10k's, halfs and soon a full.

5. What motivates you to go out there, when you do not feel like it?
A. I think of all the people that may have less time or are more tired then me that still find it in them to get out there and I realize I'm just making excuses so I wake up and brake that negative spirit. It's all in the mind.

6. What is the longest distance you have ran?
A. 32km

7. What do you love about running?
A. No 2 runs will ever be the same. Motivation, body, weather, time of day....there's countless factors that affect any given run. I love that each run is a new challenge.

8. What do you hate about running?
A. Missing a run...It's on my mind until I get back out there.

9. What gives you the confidence to run in the streets?
A. I'm an athlete. Athletes have that special insane superhero mindset...We believe ourselves capable of doing anything.
10. How do you think running can empower women?
A. Running has the ability to empower all humans. The feeling after finishing a run is a personal one and there's nothing like it. Alone or with your crew, a walk around the block or a marathon either way it will have a positive on your mind, body & soul.

11. What would you like to achieve in the future in terms of running?
A. Qualify for Boston (Personal).
Play my part in bringing this worldwide running movement to new heights (Crewlove).

12. How do you envision the future of running?
A.  Running is available to the vast majority of us and its global. The future looks great there's no limit!

13. What do you think about the lack of exercise among the youth?
A.  Kids today don't play outside like my generation did! They have so many non-active options available to them today. I think part of any run crew's missions should be to role model kids in being more active.

14. What was your best running experience?
A.  I started a run crew this year, seeing the improvement of my running mates make me incredibly proud.

15. What was your worst running experience?
A.  Early in my running career trying to figure out what to eat before a race...I only had a coffee and chocolate bar...10k felt like 100k! It was brutal. Don't sleep on your diet! It's very important in whichever sport you do!

16. How do you push through the pain?
A.  Mind over body. I may be tired or injured but running is more mental then anything... I tell myself that nothing is stopping me from finishing not even me, I'm winning that battle.

17. What is your favourite shoe to run in?
A. Only Nike. Right now I'm loving my lunarglides 6. My flyknit Lunar2's are dope too.

18. What can you not run without?
A. I use to consider not running if I didn't have my Nike+ app to track my runs or music to boost me during my runs until I realized that the RUN is the most important thing so as long as my kicks are laced up tight I'm good.

19. What advice can you give somebody who wants to start running?
A. Start - Believe in yourself - Don't give up - It will get easier because you will get better.

20. Which Social media sites are you on and how can one follow you?
A. Instagram --> @DVDjoseph & @Werunmtl
Twitter --> @DVDjoseph & Yamajoruncrew
Facebook --> Yamajo run crew
