I feel like I need to celebrate the fact the #RunRevolution movement has more than 500 followers on instagram. Can we get it to 1 000 please? Tell your peoples to tell their peoples to follow us on Twitter, Instagram and facebook.

To celebrate this I chose a runner with the most heart warming smile. I see her running through winter in tights that are too cool for me. Which reminds me that winter is coming...

She is so cool, she ran a race as a roller coaster...

Q. Tell us a little bit about who you are and what you do for a living?

A. My name is Francine, and I am a massage therapist and esthetician. Right now though I am working at a medical spa as a receptionist and I’m in school pursuing my undergraduate degree in business management.

Q. How do you balance your exercise regime and your professional life?

Q. When and why did you start running?

Q. What motivates you to go out there, when you do not feel like it?

Q. What is the longest distance you have ran?

A. Seeing other people do the same, talking to others about running and getting out there and doing it!

A. I think that they just need to have examples of people in their lives doing it, so they have the confidence and desire to pursue it themselves.

A. When I was living in Virginia beach, j&a racing put on the most awesome races. I did the wicked 10K both years I was there and the last time my friend and I dressed up as a roller coaster ride. It was awkward and bulky and hilarious. I had a blast.

A. I might think about someone who inspires me, or people that have told me I inspire them, and I don’t want to let them down or disappoint them.

A. Find a program/schedule that matches where you are currently. Whether its a couch to 5K, or something else, and try to follow it as closely as possible.

... It’s my chance to meditate, I don’t need any special equipment, and don’t need to rely on anyone else to make it happen. I just lace up and go.

... Something I’m hoping to avoid

... Everything from country to broadway to rock to rap.

... The Marine Corps Marathon. It’s my life goal

A few weeks ago I woke up to find an email from an American lady who wanted to be an Indie Runner. I checked out her instagram and I was taken back at the dedication to running that she had.

So she did become an Indie Runner...

The old way of introducing indie runners is out. No more interviews with them. They will do the #INDIERUNNERTAKEOVER first. I enjoyed this takeover and I was excited as I saw each post from my personal account.

One of the runners that I need to meet in this lifetime :)

1 way ticket to Hollywood, yes? no? maybe?

A. I'm Adrienne. I'm a part-time Online Copywriter for Salt Lake Magazine by day, and I bar tend at night.

A. I'm lucky, I have a pretty flexible schedule during the day, so it's pretty easy for me to integrate running with work.

A. I started running really recently – last March. I started because a friend of mine, an avid runner, encouraged me to do so. I don't do it for exercise – to me the physical benefits are awesome but secondary. The primary reason I do it is for meditation. I really Zen out when I run, or I really struggle. Either way I use it as an opportunity to train my mind.

A. I guess what motivates me is knowing that I'm going to feel so much better about whatever it is that's causing me to not want to go, if I just go!

A. A half-marathon, 13.1 miles.

A. I'm just in my zone, I don't really think about it I guess.

A. I think it's really sad and very dangerous. I think it has horribly damaging ramifications not only on children's physical health, but mental and emotional health as well.

A. My best running experience was when I ran 10 miles for the first time without stopping or walking once. I was with my friend Drew, who got me into running. We were dead silent after we hit the 8 mile mark, which was previously my furthest continuous distance. There was just this understanding that speaking might jinx it or something – you know runners and their superstitions lol! Anyway, as we approached the car and my Garmin beeped 10 miles, we just started laughing and high-fived and hugged, no words needed! Such a great feeling.

A. I ran headlong into running (pun intended!) and ran way too much way too fast. At the end of my first month (I'd run 85 miles) my knee started to hurt. I hoped it'd just work itself out but it kept getting worse. I continued to run on it. About two weeks after it started I went out to run. It was a beautiful frosty morning. About a half mile in my knee just buckled. I cried and cried as I limped back to my car. I was really afraid that I “just wasn't built for running,” a common myth. That was my worst running experience.

A. I just remind myself that it's temporary. As you settle in to your run it gets better.

A. Don't get discouraged early on. Running is HARD. Way more people would do it if it were easier. Give yourself credit for each little victory, because they're YOUR victories. Stick to it. It takes time to get better. And don't increase your mileage too fast!

A. I'm not huge on social media, I only really use Instagram. I have a running account @runningtofly

... F*cking annoying!!

I usually post in the evenings but today I decided to switch it up a bit because I still want to keep the balance between work and the blog. Trying a few things here and there to see what works and what doesn't because life is about trying out new things right?

I've always been a runner. In high school I was a sprinter and totally hated long distance. At the time I believed that long distance had its own breed of people, "the crazy ones" that enjoyed running those distances. Flash forward to 2012 the first Nike night run on the 21st of March. I was so excited to taking part in the race without any training since I was a natural runner. I finished the race and I would say that's when I started to itch. The itch was to better my time with a little bit of training next time around. That year I participated in a few 5km races.

January 2013 I did my first half marathon (Dischem). I attempted is race with zero training. My brother thought I was crazy to attempt 21km with no training. So that morning I set to prove myself and my brother wrong. My goal was to finish the race before the cut-off time of 3hrs. I finished that race in 2hrs45min. Not bad for a first timer.

2014 I set out to become more serious about my running. My mission was to run a race every month. First I joined a club, RAC. I could never make the weekly runs since I finish work at 5pm. I set out t run 3-4 times a week. My first race for the year was the Dischem half marathon. This time around I managed to finish in 2hrs30min. I was happy with my training. I have completed 14 races this year. I run to challenge myself and to push my body to the next level.

I plan to run a marathon on every continent as well as complete a comrades. "It always seems impossible until it is done" - Nelson Mandela

#RunRevolution

So far, 100 posts have been published on this blog. A little less than that have been involved in achieving what the #RunRevolution movement has achieved.

I think I have learned how people work, in the last month alone I must have interacted with more than 300 people. I have been thinking to myself how to involve the indie runners more within the blog.

When I started out looking for indie runners I had a list of crews I wanted to interact with. There must have been more than 40 crews on that list and I wanted 1 runner of each to be part of the #RunRevolution movement. Some crews ignored me, some replied to my emails and never suggested a runner to me, some crews were open to the idea and i think I have made bonds with these crews that will be beneficial to us as runners.

The first crew I interacted with and got a positive response from the Orchard Street Runners who host the Midnight Half, 1 race I need to do before I die. Then other crews jumped on board from different countries. I usually get put off by people who agree to be a part of the blog in one way or another, then tell me how busy they are. However, I remind myself that for every 1 person who gives me that response there are who reply with a smile.

One such runner is Anna, I searched for an indie runner in her crew because they were coming to run the Soweto Marathon. Also, I like crews and people who build a family vibe around running. Running is hard and there is no reason for us to be bitchy towards each other while our bodies are experiencing pain. Lets rather be fam and drink, party, repeat like we did at the #bridgethegap #homieshalf.

What a Beauty...

I am switching it up today, with some motivation for you. Do you value your legs? would you be able to enjoy life without them. As you read this think about oyur legs and the abuse you put them through on the streets. If they could speak what would they say?

Power is scary…Terrifying even…The wow factor of it all can be overwhelming at times. Life can be such can be such an insurmountable challenge. There are days where the bed becomes so much more than its present physical incarnation. It is a safe haven of a hiding place where dreams dwell, only coming to fruition if truly needed. Dreams hide here, warm, safe, unharmed and undeterred. They live safely in the realm of “What If” and “Maybe”. Buried somewhere, hiding, sometimes reluctant other times scared, a beast of great power resides. Possibility and positivity handedly defeat doubt and grief. The Beast, cranky and dissatisfied roars. Legs, sinewy, granite muscular and aged 28 years; Driven by the great Beast that lives inside of me, you have and will continue to take me beyond the realm of “What If” scorching the grounds of “Maybe” leaving destitute in our wake. I find myself suspended in air, floating an inch above the pavement, gracefully pounding at asphalt, dirt sand and gravel. With each step my body plows through miles as earth methodically melts away. POWER, genuine and raw, these beautiful legs carry me with strength, without complaint, even on the most achy and sorest of days. These legs carry me purposefully, arduously, realizing dreams and discovering new ones. Dear Legs, you are appreciated, loved in all your power and grace, admired in your beauty and design.
